We completed an art project for the 'office' Mother's Day weekend. I was wanting something 'artsy' from the boys, but wasn't quite sure what. I am a bit simplistic in nature & I don't tend to keep all the hand print/foot print projects the kids create on display. I save them & take pictures of their special projects, but that is about the end of it. So, when I saw something similar to the Philadelphia LOVE sign, I knew I had found my art. We used canvas and painted their hands & feet to create the masterpieces. I also used the same paint color as the walls to give it a more uniform look. Simple style, remember. Some might call it boring or safe; I call it my style. Well, looking at the art made me recall all the work we put into creating this office space, which originally started out as a 3-season porch. You heard me right! Jalousie windows, paneling on the walls, and indoor/outdoor carpet. Take a look! There aren't many pictures of me as I was 7 months pregnant with a baby when this started (February 2007). In April, we found out it was a boy & we named him Benjamin! The goal was to complete the project before the baby. However, we pulled an 'all nighter' grouting the floor in May 2007. We were exhausted! The 3-season porch has become our office/library space. It is quite cozy on cold winter nights with the fireplace on. It is easy to forget how much time & energy we have put into our home to make it our own. We couldn't have completed this project without help from dad (as usual), my brother (who got hit in the head with a hammer), brother Jimmy (drywall), Uncle John and Uncle Steve.
Hope this inspires you ~ Traci
