We spent nearly a week at the beach & had a great time! We played in the pool, got the boys first ever hermit crabs, visited Ocean City, MD, fished on the beach, canoed in the bay, rode Go Karts, and had ice cream nearly every night. Hope you have a wonderful summer too!

Mother's DayWhile I was celebrated on Mother's Day with handmade treasures from school & a few new beads for my bracelet, the true gift came this evening.
Unannounced. Innocent. Honest. William came into our bedroom as I was folding laundry and said, "Mom, thanks for wanting to have kids. You are the best Mom." I of course responded with a big hug and a thank you. He continued, "I mean it Mom. We are lucky that YOU wanted to have kids and that it was us that you had." Sincere. Loving. Genuine. I am the lucky one . . . Steve completed his second Tough Mudder http://toughmudder.com/ this past weekend. We had a great time with friends & I am so proud of him. He is trying to convince me to complete one with him . . . not so much! I am not a Tough Mudder {I am a Smart Mudder} xoxo
March 2011 we got an email about a dog that needed a home. The email came from my Mom & she felt it necessary to forward it along to us. Less than a week later we had a new family member: Sydney!
She is full of energy and plays with the boys just as another sibling would; chasing, tackling, wrestling, fighting over toys, etc. She LOVES being outside & sometimes ventures a little too far for our comfort. She can be a good listener (when she wants to) and LOVES climbing on the couch to snuggle. I can remember being a young school girl & loving Valentine's day. We would make our little mailbox & collect Valentines from everyone in the class. I liked everything about it; the colors, the candy, the little cards that had my name written on it. Now days with two young sons, I still love it. I took turns with each of the boys & had them work on their Valentines. They picked which treat went to each friend (even justifying along the way) and filled out the 'To' & 'From' on the little love cards.
Well, we have been creating green monsters for a few days now {successfully} thanks to the help & guidance from my friend Becky {can't thank you enough}! Benjamin and I paid her a visit last week & she had us try one of her smoothies. I was hooked after witnessing Ben drink every last drop out of my cup! We ordered a blender (beleive it or not, I have never had one) and picked up lots of organic vegetables & some fruit. And we blended. The boys watched intently as I added the ingredients: about 4 chopped apples, 4-5 cups of fresh spinach, 1 cup of blueberries, and a cup of ice water. They watched as it turned colors & became a nice appetizing hue of greenish/brown. Then we all tasted. William proclaimed, " tastes too salad'y'." We all agreed with his description. So, I took their glasses, dumped them back into the blender and added a banana. Repeat. They drank every last drop! I love that my boys are adventurous & trustworthy enough to allow me to 'fix' something before they completely snub it. We plan to start every morning with a green monster!
Steve made it home from work early today. We decided to take a Winter Walk at our local park {all 5 of us}. Even though it was COLD & WiNdY, we had a great time! We topped off the evening with hot cocoa, homemade pizza, and the movie "Mr. Popper's Penguins." Cheers to a great weekend!
A typical 'work day' for me involves sewing around 2:00 in the afternoon while watching the Nate Berkus show. He always features creative people that love thrifting, creating, and DIY {like me}! I took inventory in the house of a few of our projects that I am proud of. Enjoy! Our William turns 7 tomorrow! We can't believe it. He loves Angry Birds so as a surprise we are sending him to school with some Angry Bird Food {cheerios, sixlets, raisins} to share with his friends.
Super easy to make, a healthier {peanut free} option as opposed to the traditional cupcakes, & cute to boot! We know he will love sharing these with his friends. |
