Ben Chandler 9-10 68# Champion He weighed in a little light and had a belly ache. We thought it was nerves. He worked his way through the morning, one point scored on him over the course of four matches. Last match was tough, against his teammate and friend, and it would determine the champion. We are proud of him and his determination. Turns out it wasn't nerves after all . . . Tough little guy! Watch Ben quickly get out of a precarious situation! Timing. Steve and I have always subscribed to the notion of 'timing.' We don't rush things, we don't make rash decisions, we let things happen. And great things happen when you do. For instance, Dottie. We weren't planning on a puppy. Yet she happened. And we couldn't be more excited to watch her grow! Last year was a scary roller coaster ride, as we feared Mom-Mom was near her end on more than one occasion. She was in pain, tired, and weak. However, several months later, she was strong enough to stand up unassisted, open a gift, sip a Caramel Frappuccino, and literally smell the roses. Happy 84th Birthday Mom-Mom!
January has been filled with family time, from Steve's brother Rich coming north for a long weekend to watching our nieces for a few days while my brother and sister-in-law vacationed in South Beach (lucky ducks)!
January has also been filled with wrestling. Ben has been asked to be part of several dual team events, which is a nice change of pace from the tournament arena. In other news, we broke ground on our pole barn at the beach! We are super excited about the extra storage space, and Steve is looking forward to his 'man cave' area. We spent the New Year in Shunk, PA with the Shindle family (and Tryon family). Ben, Bailey, and Topher particpated in the Canton Matmen Test of the Best Tournament. Some of the highlights from our weekend away in the mountains were riding four-wheelers, shooting, building fires in the snow, wrestling, NYE celebration, and loads of laughs with great friends. |
