Sometimes I wish time would stand still. Perhaps because I believe it would allow me to absorb more of the awesomeness this world has to offer. Mainly because it would keep my little boys little.
But then reality hits me like a ton of bricks. As we age, so do they. Time moves faster and faster. There is no stopping it. And I know that we shouldn't. It is so hard sometimes. . . when I see their small faces changing before my eyes. From their teeth to their height, they are becoming young men. So why do I still see those baby faces and hear those hearty baby giggles in my mind? Will that ever go away? As I reflect on a wonderful weekend with family, I can't help but feel grateful.
Grateful that my brother and his family took time to come visit us, even when their lives are busy and crazy at times. Grateful for the life and love Steve and I have built. We love hard, work hard, and play hard. Grateful for the sons we are raising, and the kind souls they share with those around them. Honestly, I could go on. Grateful for supportive and loving friends and a family that provides unconditional love. What are you grateful for? We completed a short summer project list, none of which were planned at the beginning of summer!
I updated a runner that was showing wear by giving it a watered down paint treatment. In addition, I created a piece of pallet art that will be auctioned off during our 2nd Annual Kennett Wrestling Crab feast. The boys used the strength of the summer sun and a magnifying glass to 'wood burn.' Lastly, our home in Kennett is making room for my in home sewing studio. Combining my two loves, teaching and sewing, I am offering classes from September through December for children in grades 3-8. The boys were relentless, asking to 'ride waves' all summer. Typically, we spend the days in the bay - usually at a sand bar, floating the day away. They, however, wanted action. Big waves to jump and ride. They got their wish. We took the boat across to the Rusty Rudder, crossed Coastal 1, and they sprinted toward the sea. They found their summer calling. And it felt so good! |
