The boys had their first home meet today. Three wrestling clubs participated {Kennett, Octorara, and Downingtown}. We are so proud! They each won all 3 matches. Benjamin pinned all three opponents. William pinned one and won the other two in points. We are super excited for them to have experienced individual successes today! I think I have mentioned it before, but I love the time I have in the car with both boys before school. I take them to school to avoid the long bus ride for the little one. Well, it is one of my favorite moments in our day. No radio . . . just the 3 of us chatting. Last week {Election Day} William started asking about who I was voting for. Not wanting to jade his view or give him the impression that he should follow my lead, I asked him who he thought might make a good president. He immediately said, "Betty White." He listed off the reasons: her last name is White, like in White House, she is old (he equates old people as being smart), and she is funny (he remembers seeing commercials from her prankster show). I enjoyed hearing his view and left it at that. As he was getting out of the car for school, he continued, "And if Betty White doesn't win then I think Marack Bambama should be President."
Benjamin is half way through his first season as a Titans flag football player. He seems to enjoy playing & spending time with friends. Go Titans!
We spent nearly a week at the beach & had a great time! We played in the pool, got the boys first ever hermit crabs, visited Ocean City, MD, fished on the beach, canoed in the bay, rode Go Karts, and had ice cream nearly every night. Hope you have a wonderful summer too!
The boys spent their first afternoon of summer vacation playing Pokemon cards in the backyard.
I plan on enjoying our time this summer exploring . . . relaxing. . . learning . . . Mother's DayWhile I was celebrated on Mother's Day with handmade treasures from school & a few new beads for my bracelet, the true gift came this evening.
Unannounced. Innocent. Honest. William came into our bedroom as I was folding laundry and said, "Mom, thanks for wanting to have kids. You are the best Mom." I of course responded with a big hug and a thank you. He continued, "I mean it Mom. We are lucky that YOU wanted to have kids and that it was us that you had." Sincere. Loving. Genuine. I am the lucky one . . . Benjamin had his first t-ball game tonight! Watching t-ball is quite different than watching the Minors; it usually involves very little catching, over/under throwing, and lots of playing in the dirt.
I can remember being a young school girl & loving Valentine's day. We would make our little mailbox & collect Valentines from everyone in the class. I liked everything about it; the colors, the candy, the little cards that had my name written on it. Now days with two young sons, I still love it. I took turns with each of the boys & had them work on their Valentines. They picked which treat went to each friend (even justifying along the way) and filled out the 'To' & 'From' on the little love cards.
Today the boys & I were delighted to have my brother Bryan come visit with his little ones. All of the kids had a great time playing! As you can see, we did a little science experiment with baking soda & vinegar. The kids loved it! Benjamin received this as a gift from Santa. He & William made the volcano (plaster) & together painted it red & black.
William also received a science kit; Smithsonian Gem Dig. See his pictures below! Tis' the season. . . for visiting Santa's everywhere. Enjoy the photos of the boys with many different "Santa Helpers."
They enjoyed telling the helpers what they are wishing for this Christmas. William mentioned he was hoping for some legos and an ipod touch. Benjamin on the other hand was wishing for a jet ski, a four wheeler, and a boat. Hmmm . . . |
